In our window boxes, only the roots are in contact with highly oxygenated and clean water. The dirt on top does not hold the water which helps prevent mold, root rot and other plant diseases. We recommend using lightweight filler and potting mixes as they provide better aeration and nutrient absorption and won’t overload the window box itself. Using the planting and watering recommendations included with your window box and depending on the direct sun and rain exposure, your window box can be left to its own well put together resources and you can sit back and enjoy it for years to come.
