Your new mailbox will be covered in pure, un-lacquered copper, meaning that, when placed outdoors the copper will darken in color over time. The ends and hardware of the mailbox are painted a rich gray/green, and typically, the design selected and the same line of personalization specified are embossed on both sides of the mailbox.
