About the Salsbury In-Ground Deluxe Post for Designer Roadside Mailboxes Roadside mailboxes can be mounted on the optional bolt mounted (#4365D) or in-ground mounted (#4385D) aluminum pedestals or in-ground mounted, 1-sided deluxe posts (#4370D) or a base of your choice. Multiple roadside mailboxes can be mounted on deluxe 2-sided posts (#4372D) or on standard posts using optional spreaders (related items #4382D and #4383D). Roadside mailboxes can also be mounted in columns, masonry or walls. Non-locking thumb latches (related item #4388) are available as an option upon request. Roadside mailboxes are approved for U.S.P.S. curbside mail delivery.

USPS approval covers every letterbox or receptacle intended for the delivery of postage paid mail on any mail route. From the point of the manufacturer, this includes flag size, mailbox size, strength, and quality of construction. Generally, all mailbox interiors and door access are regulated to receive expected mail sizes. Residential curbside or rural mailboxes and post packages also must accommodate an installation height of 41-45 in. from the road surface to inside floor of the mailbox or point of mail entry (locked designs). A separate set of regulations is provided for all Commercial Mailboxes.
