Personalized text on the rust free aluminum center further distinguishes your home. About the Materials Used The construction of these beautiful doormats starts with a black vulcanized rubber backing that will resist slipping and scratching when stepped on. The topside is a coarse fibre extracted from the fibrous outer shell of a coconut known as Coir. Coir is thick, strong and has a high abrasion resistance so it will keep the outside from coming inside for many years. The center plaques are made from solid, sand cast and powder coated aluminum. Aluminum is a lightweight, totally rust free, recyclable, and extremely durable material that is often used for outdoor products. About the Personalized Text This doormat has the option of personalization. You can personalize it with standard text such as "Welcome" or something more personal, such as your surname (max 15 characters including spaces). The personalized plaque is replaceable, should you decide you want to change the text in the future, or have more than one text plate. I've had this mailbox alert system for 2 weeks now and it has worked flawlessly. Like other reviewers stated the chime is rather loud. But I simply put a piece of clear scotch tape over the chime's sound holes and quieted it down instantly. My alert system works every time. I'm also impressed with the o-ring that seals the battery compartment to keep moisture out. My mailbox is about 30 feet from the house and I have no signal problems. I keep the base unit just inside my front door. The small red light is suprisingly bright too. This item will be especially great in bad weather so that I don't waste unnecessary trips to the mailbox. Now 2 of my coworkers want to order one of these because I keep bragging about it.
