The polished weathervanes are not treated in the factory so they will start to naturally tarnish. At first, the finish will darken, like an old copper penny. Then, after several years, the surface will begin to bloom with a beautiful natural green/blue patina. The antiqued copper has an artificial finish applied in the factory to give the weathervane the appearance of many years of elemental exposure.
