All metal & glass. Could be a little more sturdy though. This comes in 3 sections that just set on top of one another onto slots. It is fairly secure, but would prefer some type of fastener to fit these together even better. This is something you can do yourself though with a drill from underneath & still keep the fasteners hidden. The glass also just sets into slots in the frame. If you have a loud stereo these will rattle something fierce. I bought some adhesive backed felt & trimmed to size which I then lined the slots with. Problem fixed. There is also no handle on the doors, but I drilled a hole & attached a store bought handle myself aswell. The terrarium has good ventilation from slats in the middle of the frame & two holes on top. This comes shipped frieght on a pallet with 4 boxes & is well packaged. Overall I think this is a very nice terrarium.
