About Cedar Wood Cedar is a spicy-resinous scented wood that is durable, decay and insect resistant, and will weather to a pleasing silver grey over time. These properties make Cedar perfect for many outdoor applications such as shingles, doormats and mailboxes. The Cedar Mailbox is ready to outlast any other. About the Personalization Up to thirteen characters and spaces can also be placed on your cedar mailbox. Once your characters are slightly carved into the wood, the design is then hand-painted with black UV protective acrylic paint.
