About the Salsbury Heavy Duty Rural Mailboxes
Made entirely of aluminum, Salsbury U.S.P.S. approved 4800 series heavy duty rural mailboxes feature a 1/8" thick extruded aluminum body with a 1/8" thick die cast aluminum front door and rear cover. Heavy duty rural mailboxes also feature a durable powder coated finish available in four (4) contemporary colors and include an adjustable red signal flag and a magnetic door catch. The die cast door is attached to the body with a full-width stainless steel hinge allowing for smooth operation. Heavy duty rural mailboxes can be mounted on standard, classic, decorative or deluxe mailbox posts (see related items) or a base of your choice. Multiple heavy duty rural mailboxes may be mounted on classic 2-sided posts (#4892), deluxe 2-sided posts for two mailboxes (#4872), deluxe 2-sided posts for four mailboxes (#4874) or on standard posts using optional spreaders (related items #4882, #4883 and #4884). Heavy duty rural mailboxes are approved for U.S.P.S. curbside mail delivery.

Made of heavy duty aluminum, newspaper holders (#4815) are a unique option for heavy duty rural mailboxes. Each unit has a solid back and includes mounting hardware to easily attach to mailbox posts and spreaders. Newspaper holders feature a durable powder coated finish available in four (4) contemporary colors.

I had looked for a decently made cast aluminum rural mailbox on the 'net on several occasions, and had always come up with either what appeared to be very lightweight, inexpensive models, or very robust cast models that cost more than I wanted to spend. While I'm sure the expensive mailboxes are really nice, I just didn't want to end up spending several hundred dollars for two mailboxes and a post. On my last quest, I came across this mailbox, and I must say, I am *extremely* pleased with this product. It is a substantial mailbox, no inexpensive sheet metal here! The magnetic door latch seems strong but not so much that it is difficult to disengage. The piano hinge is smooth and should serve well for many years. The flag operates smoothly, no wobbling or play in its hinge and feels like it will stay put. The overall quality is just excellent, and at a price point that didn't break the bank. I highly recommend this mailbox to anyone that wants a solid, affordable, and attractive rural mailbox. Kudos to Amazon and the manufacturer for a great product!!!

This item is made very well. It is heavy duty, with a very nice black matte finish. The door opens and closes easily, with a magnetic closure. This is a great feature to insure that it remains closed in bad weather. The mailbox is a great size. It fits on the standard mailbox street stand, yet has ample room for any mail overflow. I recommend this mailbox highly.

This is a very nicely made, sturdy mailbox that looks good but not pretentious. While it's not cheap, it should hold up a lot better than the tinny mail boxes that I've seen in stores around here. My only conplaint is that it doesn't come with any hardware (you have to buy the post to get the hardware), so had to make a quick trip to the hardware store. Hope the color (black) doesn't fade too quickly.
