USPS approval covers every letterbox or receptacle intended for the delivery of postage paid mail on any mail route. From the point of the manufacturer, this includes flag size, mailbox size, strength, and quality of construction. Generally, all mailbox interiors and door access are regulated to receive expected mail sizes. Residential curbside or rural mailboxes and post packages also must accommodate an installation height of 41-45 in. from the road surface to inside floor of the mailbox or point of mail entry (locked designs). A separate set of regulations is provided for all Commercial Mailboxes.

Mailbox was straightforward to mount on brick wall and looks nice. There is a privacy panel (to be mounted with adhesives inside the front panel of mailbox) that I did not install initially, then my friendly mailman put a note recommending that I put a plastic inside box to protect from rain, so I installed the privacy panel for that purpose. My only regret is that the box cannot be locked. But I think it is a good value; the other mailboxes I saw in stores and on line were either bland or very pricey.

We purchased this Mailbox months ago, but waited to install it until the house renovations were complete. We are very pleased with the quality. It is much heavier and sturdier than the thin tin ones you find in the home improvement stores. I looked all over before I decided to look at Amazon, but I'm glad we ordered this one. It is larger than I originally thought it would be, but that is a plus! I also like the newspaper holder that comes with it - just have to convince the delivery person to use it! Our mailbox is under a porch roof, so we did not use the insert that comes with it either - you can see if you have mail just by glancing through the windows in the box. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a mailbox that will hold up to all those catalogs and mailings that come around the holidays.
