Product Description

Standard recessed mounted letter boxes are 15" W x 19" H x 6-3/4" D and are available for U.S.P.S. access or private access (includes factory installed commercial lock #2246). Units fit into a rough opening (13-3/4" W x 17-3/4" H x 6-3/4" D) and are secured with mounting hardware (not included) through the back or side panels. A fully integrated flanged collar fits over the rough opening. Standard recessed mounted letter boxes feature an 11-1/2" W x 3/4" H mail slot. A non-locking thumb latch (related item #2288) is available as an option upon request for units not serviced by the U.S.P.S. Standard recessed mounted letter boxes are ideal for apartments, condominiums, commercial buildings and many other applications.

USPS approval covers every letterbox or receptacle intended for the delivery of postage paid mail on any mail route. From the point of the manufacturer, this includes flag size, mailbox size, strength, and quality of construction. Generally, all mailbox interiors and door access are regulated to receive expected mail sizes. Residential curbside or rural mailboxes and post packages also must accommodate an installation height of 41-45 in. from the road surface to inside floor of the mailbox or point of mail entry (locked designs). A separate set of regulations is provided for all Commercial Mailboxes.
